CONNECT | ENGAGE | SUPPORT

The Flinders Foundation aims to connect, engage and support the Matthew Flinders Anglican College community.

At the heart of the Foundation's history is our philanthropic character.

With your support, we are working to ensure the College prospers and leads for the benefit of our students, present and future.

Our vision

Our vision is to support the College while engaging the wider community and encouraging philanthropy. The Flinders Foundation aims to create a sense of belonging amongst parents, students, the staff and stakeholders.

Our mission

The Foundation’s mission is to facilitate the ongoing development of facilities and programs for the long-term benefit of our students.

The Flinders Foundation supports the College in its efforts to provide:

  • a safe environment and sense of community that is highly valued by our students, parents, teachers and visitors;
  • facilities of the highest quality;
  • student scholarship programs; and
  • outstanding sporting and cultural programs.

The Foundation underpins the student-focused culture and community of Matthew Flinders Anglican College. We look forward to building friends in our community and creating more opportunities for our students for years to come.

What we do

The Flinders Foundation plays a vital role in funding and supporting the development of innovative and significant programs and assets for the benefit of students.

The Foundation has contributed $3.4 million towards new facility projects across the College campus such as the Sports Centre, Chapel, Drama Centre, and the $13 million Flinders Performance Centre, which is an innovative venue utilised by the Sunshine Coast community.

In 2021, the Wonderarium learning resource centre opened in our Primary School. The Wonderarium is wholly funded by the Flinders Foundation for the long-term benefit of students, current and future.

The Flinders Foundation Scholarship is offered to a student who does not attend the College and is commencing Year 10 or Year 11. The student must exhibit attributes of an outstanding all-round contributor.

Who we are

The Flinders Foundation Board is made up of dedicated parents and members of the wider community who have a passion for growing Finders as a vibrant learning environment.

The Foundation Board is responsible for managing all funds contributed by donors.

Connect | How to get involved

The Flinders Foundation hosts a number of events throughout the year and we invite members of our Flinders community and the wider community to join us.

Our annual Flinders Foundation Gala Dinner is a great opportunity to socialise and support fundraising initiatives that contribute to building projects and scholarships.

The Principal's Welcome to New Parents is hosted by the Foundation and aims to connect new College families as they begin their education journey at Flinders.

In 2020, the Foundation launched The Ship’s Log - our online Community Business Directory designed to profile and connect Flinders families in a practical and mutually beneficial way. We encourage our Flinders community to support the businesses listed, where possible. With your support The Ship’s Log will grow to become a valuable community resource.

We also share stories and conversations with some of the business owners listed in The Ship’s Log via our Business Conversation Series video series.

Support | How to give to the Foundation

School fees cover only a portion of the annual expenditure for Flinders. The Foundation exists to create more opportunity to benefit everyone.

Whether you are an individual or a company, your philanthropy efforts are an important contribution to our College culture. Funds enable us to achieve, develop and extend programs, facilities and our connection with the Flinders community.

These funds are allocated to a range of College projects, including scholarship programs and the construction of new facilities. These programs directly benefit Flinders students and enhance the opportunities available to them to excel in learning and life.

Anyone can be a donor and support the Foundation’s vision through a tax deductible gift.
